Transfer Pathway Guides

Welcome

Transfer Pathways, (formerly referred to as 2+2s), outline optimal courses for obtaining an Associate degree from MCC and transferring to a local 4-year institution. Each advising guide is tailored for a specific major at a specified 4-year institution with the advised GPA noted. Students apply to the 4-year college near the completion of their MCC degree, and the final admissions decision is made by the 4-year institution.

Some Transfer Pathways have specific entrance requirements and are deemed “Competitive.” For those formally admitted into a Competitive Transfer Pathway, student contact information will be shared each semester with the respective 4-year institution to ensure effective communication between the colleges. Students are typically advised to follow the guide for the year they started the Competitive Transfer Pathway, however reviewing this with an advisor is strongly encouraged. Students who do not meet MCC Satisfactory Academic Progress and/or other Competitive Transfer Pathway guidelines may be removed from the major. If this occurs, they may continue in the same MCC program, but without the Competitive Transfer Pathway designation.

All Transfer Pathway guides should be regularly reviewed along with your Degree Works Worksheet as updates do occur. Work closely with your MCC and 4-year institution advisor. Bachelor degree completion may take longer than four years depending on prerequisite courses needed, course sequencing, and/or curriculum of the 4-year college program. It is acceptable to take longer than two years at MCC to complete needed coursework. Some guides are noted as “2+3” as they are 5-year programs. With the exception of the Competitive Transfer Pathways, students can attend full or part-time. Some courses advised may not be required for the MCC degree; this may have financial aid implications.

More transfer advising agreements and guides can be found on the Additional Transfer Agreements page.

While every effort is made to ensure accurate information, students are strongly advised to verify course transferability with the transfer institution as they will make the final determination of transfer credit.

Students can go to the Advisement Center in building 3, room 231 during walk-in hours for brief inquiries or can schedule a transfer planning appointment in Career Services for more in-depth inquiries.
